Dedicated to Brigitte and Gaston Sylvestre and Max Bonnay
Created on Thursday March 31, 2005 at the Halle Saint Pierre (Paris 18th)
Duration : approx. 11'30. Editions Francois Dhalmann
This work is a sort of “ d'études de timbres ” in three parts linked together without interruption, calling on the very specific technical resources of these three instruments, which are rarely brought together. Their own constraints - range, timbre, articulations etc. - enabled me to develop a rich and varied instrumentation, almost orchestral in certain passages.
The constituent motifs of the work run right through it. Like so many parallel universes, each of them seems to live its own story independently of that of the others.
Thus, with each of their reappearances, the motifs have evolved, creating this musical and poetic form “ en spiral ”, a sort of intertwining of game modes.
These free figures are a tribute to the exemplary artistic journey of the three dedicatees of the work who tirelessly, with intelligence, a sense of research and improvisation, contribute to the development and enrichment of the possibilities of their instruments.
