00:00 / 00:00
Request from the Aleph ensemble for the Frequent Stops show “ 68 creations from 3' to 30'' ”.
Creation at the Dunois theater in December 1994.
Length: 30''. Editions Francois Dhalmann
The challenge of writing a very short work amused me. In the formal sense of the term, I have therefore written a true work of 30 seconds whose writing is extremely pointillist, varied and rich with a maximum of timbres and modes of play.
The text - sung in Latin - is a Latin epitaph which alone sums up the musical project.
“ Viator, viator !
What are you, ego flee ; quod nunc sum, and thou art.
“ Traveller, traveler !
What you are, I was ; what I am, you will be”.
(Tomb of M. Valérius ; Saint-Martin church, Fanum Fortunae, Fano, Umbrian coasts).
